About Prosecco
There’s a reason why prosecco is so popular in Italy– it is refreshing, flavorful, light-bodied, and is often very affordable! Prosecco DOC is actually exclusively produced in certain parts of northeastern Italy, while Prosecco Conegliano Valdobbiadene Superiore DOCG can only be made in the Treviso province of Veneto. While most Proseccos are sparkling and bubbly, there are also semi-sparkling and still varieties. Prosecco DOC also comes in a variety of sweetness, often ranging from Brut (the driest) to Dry or Demi-Sec (the sweetest.)
It’s important to note that the drink is not the same as Champagne- Prosecco is sparkling wine. Champagne is made from different grapes and must be made by refermenting the wine in the bottle to get its bubbles, while Prosecco is typically made by refermenting wine in steel tanks. The method is known as the Charmat or Italian method.
